Alternatives

A research roundup from the services’ own pages, not hands-on testing.

Cold brew changes what a subscription needs to do. The coffee should be one you’d steep for hours, and the grind should be coarse. If a service ships only whole bean, you need a grinder; if it ships ground, check that the grind goes coarse enough. Look at three things before you subscribe: the grind menu, how often it ships, and whether you can skip a shipment.

Trade Coffee · Subscription

Cold Brew Coffee Subscription

Who it's for
Someone who wants coffee roasted for cold brew, ground for their maker, without choosing a roaster.
Why it's here
Trade's cold brew offer says its roasters craft coffee just for cold brewing, and the grind menu has a Cold Brew setting next to whole bean, French press and the rest. You choose delivery every 1 to 6 weeks, and Trade says it ships within 48 hours of roasting. You can pause, skip or cancel at any time, and Trade will replace a coffee you don't like.
The tradeoff
You set the schedule and keep adjusting it. Bags stack up if you brew less than you planned, so skip a shipment before the next one roasts.

Peet's Coffee · Subscription

Cold Brew Series Subscription

Who it's for
Someone who already likes Peet's and has a grinder, or is fine with a French press grind.
Why it's here
Peet's Cold Brew Series brings single origins and blends to cold brew lovers' doors, in 16 oz (454 g) bags, every 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Peet's says there's no commitment, and you can pause or cancel.
The tradeoff
The grind menu is whole bean, drip, French press and espresso, with no cold brew setting. Pre-ground means French press, or you grind it at home.

Counter Culture Coffee · Subscription

Single-Origin Subscription, Two Bags

Who it's for
Someone with a grinder who wants a new coffee every shipment.
Why it's here
Two single-origin bags per shipment, and every two weeks Counter Culture's buying team swaps in two new coffees. You can ship every 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 weeks, change or cancel at any time, and Counter Culture says each order is roasted to order and ships within two business days.
The tradeoff
It's whole bean only, so you need a grinder. The coffee changes every shipment, so a favorite from one bag may not come back.

Stumptown Coffee Roasters · Subscription

Blend Shuffle Subscription

Who it's for
Someone who brews cold brew and other coffee from one subscription.
Why it's here
Stumptown ships whole bean or in the grind you pick, and you can change it before any shipment. Bags are 12 oz (340 g), delivery runs every 1 to 8 weeks, and you can pause, skip or cancel at any time.
The tradeoff
Nothing in it is chosen for cold brew, so you pick the grind and the dose yourself.

La Colombe · Subscription

Cold Brew Subscribe & Save

Who it's for
Someone who'd rather open a can than steep anything.
Why it's here
La Colombe ships its cold brew cans or concentrate every 2, 3 or 4 weeks. A can is 9 oz (266 mL) at 180 mg of caffeine, and the concentrate is mixed 1 part to 3 parts water, at 230 mg per prepared serving.
The tradeoff
You choose the format and how often, not the coffee. Read the can's ingredients: chicory root fiber and two phosphates join the coffee, where the concentrate lists only coffee and water.
